Since its founding in 2017, carboliq has established itself as a leading technology platform for chemical recycling. As a spin-off of the engineering firm RECENSO, carboliq draws on the extensive experience of the team led by Olivier Inhoff and Christian Haupts, who have been developing mechanical and chemical systems for raw material recovery since 2004. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carboliq pilot plant, located at the waste management center in Ennigerloh, is the only facility of its kind in the world.
It enables large-scale testing of real-world plastic waste and provides the resulting liquid raw materials in industry-standard quantities for further processing. The collected data enables precise calculation of mass, energy, and material balances.
The facility is licensed for 24\/7 industrial operation and is certified in accordance with DIN ISO 2001.
The operating company is a certified waste management specialist, and both the process and the products carry the ISCC PLUS certificate\u2014verifying their sustainability credentials. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Operations at the carboliq pilot plant provide invaluable input for further development of the process and evaluation of the resulting products. With over 22,000 hours of documented production time and hundreds of metric tons of real-world waste already processed, the facility plays a key role in minimizing the risk of errors when scaling up the technology. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

RECENSO GmbH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

RECENSO<\/a> is an engineering firm that has been developing innovative recycling technologies for decades. Leveraging its extensive expertise in this field, RECENSO spun off carboliq as an independent company to continue development of chemical recycling technology and the circular economy. Recenso also built the first modular oiling plant in Barrie, Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RECENSO is driving the advancement of the core oiling process and advises carboliq on applications involving high-calorific feedstocks. Through its subsidiary converbio GmbH, the RECENSO team is also working on applying direct-oiling technology to biomass feedstocks. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

ECOWEST Entsorgungsverbund Westfalen GmbH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ECOWEST<\/a> is a public-sector company responsible for the processing and disposal of municipal and commercial waste in the districts of G\u00fctersloh and Warendorf. At its mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) facility, various grades of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) are produced. The high-calorific fraction is used in cement kilns (approx. 30,000 metric tons per year). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As early as 2009, ECOWEST’s management began exploring direct oiling as an alternative utilization pathway for high-calorific waste. In 2011, with backing from a private investor, RECENSO installed the first plant directly in the site\u2019s refuse-derived fuel (RDF) storage facility. The goal was to convert RDF into a storable, universal fuel source.
