Protecting the environment means securing the future<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Life on Earth depends on functioning ecosystems. The disruption of these systems by plastic waste has become a global issue. As plastic production continues to rise, so does environmental pollution \u2013 putting our future on this planet at risk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Avoiding waste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cutting back on consumption is the most effective way to act sustainably. However, this requires a complete change of lifestyle, which is something few people are able or willing to do. That said, many people regularly reduce their consumption in certain situations. This kind of occasional cutback is quite achievable. After all, how often do we find ourselves choosing products based on supposedly value-adding features \u2013 only to realize later that we didn\u2019t actually need them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reducing waste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Basic product design involves eliminating unnecessary features \u2013 resource-efficient design goes further by also considering the product\u2019s actual use. Design for Recycling (DfR) plays a key role in ensuring that the materials within a product can be recovered efficiently. Once again waste prevention is placed at the forefront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collecting waste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A key factor for successful recycling is the quality of the collected waste. The necessary infrastructure can be complex, and the motivation of waste producers to dispose of their waste according to defined rules is often limited. Clear regulations and appropriate incentive systems are needed. Ultimately, the waste owner will provide this valuable resource to whoever offers the best return.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n

Our contribution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The resources contained in waste are diverse and require appropriate collection systems. The choice of recycling method should be based on efficiency. In the case of plastic waste, mechanical recycling is a suitable option if the recovered polymer can be reused in another application. For mixed or contaminated plastic waste, chemical recycling is necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breaking materials down into their constituent components (monomers) or building blocks (hydrocarbons) allows their use in the production of new, high-quality polymers. This approach takes environmental protection, resource conservation, and climate protection into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
